2019

May 26, 2019 ~ Cheyenne, Wyoming
Big hail storm hit Cheyenne a few days before I was to head north to Yellowstone National Park. Major damage to the truck and camper. After finding someplace to replace the windshield on the truck and taping up the broken sunroof, I headed back to Illinois instead, knowing a good place to get the truck fixed.

On the way, I stopped at the dealer in Lincoln, Nebraska where I bought the 2019 Imagine XLS camper and got an estimate on repairs. At least the camper doesn't leak, but everything on the roof (A/C, antennae, vent covers, etc.), the roof itself and the front cap would all need to be torn off and replaced. Quite a few months of repair work needed. Looks like I'll be off the road for a while.

April 22, 2019 ~ Iowa Waterfall TourWhile leaving Louisiana on the way to Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas, some idiot in Lake Providence, LA pulled out of on street parking and hit the trailer as I was driving down the small, two block town. Spent the night parked in front of the police station while trying to locate a tow. The camper was not drivable since he bent the axle. I was able to find a heavy wrecker and the camper was towed to Mississippi to a dealer for repairs. As it turned out, my mother ended up in the hospital (something minor because I can't even remember why), so I spent three weeks up at Dad's house until the trailer was repaired. Once I went back to Mississippi for the camper and trip back to Illinois to plan routes, I headed to Iowa for a couple of weeks to the waterfalls. Most turned out to be spillways, but at least I was back on the road.

Interesting little ghost town with original buildings, bullet holes in the saloon walls because of the residents shooting flies on the walls, nooses inside the dining hall where the last two hangings were held.
